January is always fi

January is always filled with excitement as our team of educators and teachers prepare for another year of fun-filled learning and development opportunities. As our new families commence and our current families return from a well-earned break, we often get asked "what do I pack" for childcare or kindergarten. Here's a helpful reminder 😀. ... 🥁🪘🕯️Day: 4 of National Children's Week - 'The right to speak' 🕯️🪘🥁
Today, we invited the children to take part in a special Show and Tell, and since we were lucky to have Joe the Drummer visit, we asked everyone to bring in something musical to share!
We started the morning with a very musical Show and Tell, with many children bringing in their fun instruments. We had lots of xylophones, tambourines, a flute, drums, clap sticks, guitars, and even the world’s smallest maracas! The children were so proud to show and talk about their instruments!
For those who didn’t bring one, we had plenty to share around the room, including extra maracas, bells, and guitars.
We also continued our Diwali celebrations today, with our educator V doing beautiful henna designs for some of the children. It was such a special experience, the children were fascinated watching the designs being drawn and proudly showed off their hands afterward!

🎨🖌️Day: 3 of National Children's Week - 'The right to identity' On Wednesday at Little Patch ELC, we explored 'the right to identity' with a colourful face painting session!
This was definitely the highlight of the day, as the children had been eagerly awaiting for the face painter's arrival.
When she finally came in, many asked, “Are you a teacher?” and giggled with excitement when she replied, “No, I’m the face painter!”
Once their faces were painted, the children couldn’t wait to see themselves in the mirror and have their photos taken. The room was filled with big smiles and cheerful giggles all around!

🐮🐑🐖Day: 1 of National Children's Week - 'the right to discover'🐖🐑🐮
At Little Patch ELC, we kicked off National children's week with a fun and engaging animal farm! Some children were excited upon seeing the animals and each had the opportunity to have their own special experience with them, while others were more skeptical. However, given the 'right to discover' at their own pace, it didn't take long for most children to gain the confidence to interact with their furry, fluffy, and feathered friends.

Space Week at LittleImage attachmentImage attachment+Image attachment

Space Week at Little Patch! 🌍✨🚀🪐

Last week, we celebrated Space Week 2025, with the theme “Living in Space.” Each room joined in with fun, hands-on learning experiences inspired by the wonders of the universe!

In Nursery and Toddler Junior, the children enjoyed sensory and creative play, mixing materials to make “space,” crafting rockets from plastic bottles, and designing their own colourful planets.

Toddler Senior and Pre-Kinder explored the galaxy through a space-themed sensory bin, painted planets using marbles and paint for texture, crafted friendly aliens, and even walked on the moon, using paint on their feet to make moon prints!

At Kinder, the children worked together on a group project to build the solar system using paper-mache, transforming balloons into planets. The classroom was filled with themed activities including space puzzles, moon rock sorting, a space dramatic play area, and self-portraits of themselves as astronauts ready for takeoff!

These experiences weren’t just fun, they supported rich learning and development as children:

* Explored curiosity, imagination, and inquiry-based learning (Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners)

* Developed fine motor and sensory skills through hands-on activities (Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing)

* Strengthened social and communication skills while collaborating and sharing ideas (Outcomes 1 & 5)

Tooth Fairy and DentImage attachmentImage attachment+6Image attachment

Tooth Fairy and Dentist Visit at Little Patch! ✨🦷

Recently, we had a visit from a tooth fairy and dentist, and what an exciting experience it was for the children! Leading up to the visit, our Kinder room engaged in lots of fun and meaningful learning activities all about healthy teeth and oral care.

The children created a large mouth model with teeth and practiced “cleaning” the brown teeth by brushing them white. They also used paint and brushes to “clean” yoghurt cups and took part in an egg experiment that demonstrated how acidic foods and drinks can damage tooth enamel.

When the big day arrived, the children were thrilled by the interactive tooth fairy show, filled with laughter and learning. Afterwards, some very brave children even had their teeth checked by the visiting dentists!

These experiences aren’t just exciting, they support children’s learning and development as they:

* Learn about health, hygiene, and self-care, building positive lifelong habits (Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing)

* Develop confidence and curiosity by asking questions and participating in discussions about their bodies (Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners)
