Enriched Learning

Curriculum

We recognise that children begin their learning journey from the moment they are born and, in particular, the first eight years of a child’s life is fundamental in establishing core values, a sense of identity, and self-worth.

Our educational philosophies are under-pinned by the highly regarded Reggio Emilia approach to learning which supports enquiry and play-based learning opportunities in natural and responsive environments. Our learning programs are designed to be emergent in nature and, and through reflective practices, are guided by the children’s interests and needs.

The curriculum at Little Patch is complimented by our enrichment programs which facilitate important life skills and intentional teaching opportunities such as water safety, road safety, cultural events and celebrations, diversity, environmental awareness and sustainability, STEM, literacy, music, sport, languages, mindfulness, cooking, health and hygiene, community engagement and many more. Incursions and excursions are co-ordinated on a regular basis to support our in-house curriculum and further enhance learning outcomes.

Family Connection

The team at Little Patch are committed to providing as many opportunities as possible for families to engage in their child’s day and learning journey. Our daily routines include recording and sharing information with families to ensure they are informed and involved. In addition to many other communication tools, Little Patch Early Learning utilises digital platform of Storypark to share information and communicate with families throughout the day.

Story Park

Every enrollee at Little Patch Early Learning is setup with a free Storypark account which allows educators to share learning stories, photos, videos, centre announcements in a safe and secure digital environment. Parents can then share their child’s information with friends and family who they have invited to view their child’s account.

Community

We believe it “takes a village to raise a child” (Loris Malaguzzi – Reggio Emilia) and Community is at the heart of our educational beliefs. Parents and extended families are regularly invited to participate in our activities, incursions, excursions, events and celebrations that occur throughout the year. Our Community Connections Program includes local schools, businesses, organisations, and aged care facilities to allow children to engage with and learn about their local community and wider world.
